Monthly Focus Guide: DIY Life Organization

Hey Friends! Today’s DIY is a quick piggy back from my LIFE CHANGING BOOK post. In case you missed it, the life changing bullet journal is all about having more control over my life and all of life’s many variables! A huge part of my journal is attributed to an area of my life that I want to regain strength. Thus, my monthly focus goals were born. The focus changes each month with a concentration in one particular area for the entire month’s span. I made a list of 12 goals to concentrate on each month that I am utilizing to make life more structured, organized, and fulfilling.

See my list below accompanied with some of my journal entries, and use them as a guide to create your own!

1) GOOD HABITS

Naturally, January is for fresh starts so making good habits is pivotal at a time where resolutions are plentiful. My concentration for month 1 is to make better daily habits such as making my bed, following a skincare routine, and deep cleaning our bedroom once a week. 2) SELF CARE

Monthly Focus, month 2: self care watercolor sign

The most important thing you’ll ever do is take care of yourself. “Treat yo’self.” My focus in month 2 is drinking more water, taking better care of my hair and nails, and getting more sleep.

3) LEARN, THEN PRACTICE A NEW SKILL

Learn a new skill monthly focus watercolor hand lettered sign

Having any set of skills cannot be stressed enough. Focus on adding a new skill to your personal resume in month 3. My new skill that I am working on is hand lettering! Part of my practice routine includes writing the alphabet, words, and phrases to improve my skills. Each photo pictured in this post is also a result of practice. Try something new!Who knows? That new skill may help you land a job, opportunity, or experience you yearn for!

4) BALANCE

As the midyear approaches, it is very important to asses and find your true balance. Although it may seem very broad, finding your life balance will help you crush the rest of the year’s goals easily. Try to balance your emotional, physical, and mental health in month 4 to increase productivity.

5) EXPERIENCE

Never ever stop living. Make small goals to try some type of new experiences in month 5. New experiences are exhilarating, refreshing, and breathe new life into your purpose.

6) FINANCES

You’ve reached the midyear mark! Great! Now is the time to check your spending and adjust accordingly. You still have 6 more months to crush those goals and make more. Set a goal to save a percentage of your earnings so that you’ll have funds for a trip or just a rainy day!

7) FACING FEARS

"Facing fears" watercolor handwritten sign, focus for month 7.

Don’t go jumping out of airplanes just yet (unless you’re into that type of thing). Facing fears could be as small as talking to a stranger or wearing certain clothes with the utmost confidence. My focus for month 7 is to be fearless in my endeavors and be more assertive.

8) COUNTING BLESSINGS

The focus for month 8 is counting blessings, as illustrated by this hand lettered watercolor sign.

Always always always count every single blessing. From each breath of life to every singular accomplishment no matter how small, never forget that each success is a win. Every win counts and they will almost always outweigh the negative.

9) BLESSING OTHERS

Month 9's focus is blessing others.

While blessings are plentiful, it is important to share your blessings with others. Whether it be knowledge, a donation, advice, or just being there for someone, use your blessings to help others who may need a blessing themselves.

The final quarter of monthly focus goals is pivotal:

10) OBSERVATION

A watercolor painted sign that reads "observation." Monthly focus in month 10 is observation.

As the year is coming to a close, use this time to observe your surroundings. Observe the people in your life, your lifestyle, and the lives of those around you to determine if you are where you want to be in life.

11) GRATEFUL

A hand lettered watercolor card that reads "grateful." Month 11's focus is being grateful.

A typical month for thankfulness, month 11 is focused on being grateful for growth, development, and change as the year comes to an end. Write down one thing you’re grateful for every day during month 11’s focal period.

12) THE FOUR R’S:

A hand written watercolor card that reads "The Four R's: reflect, review, revise, renew." The last month's focus is centered around evaluating your year and making changes as necessary.

Self explanatory. Month 12 is the evaluation period for the upcoming year. Reflect upon your wins, reevaluate your losses, revise your plans, and renew your goals for the new year!

I hope that we all can truly evaluate ourselves in an effort to constantly be better than the day before. These monthly focus goals are not concrete or guaranteed methods to work for everyone. It is simply an execution tool guide to improve our everyday lives. Comment & share some additional methods that work for you!
