DIY Unicorn Halloween Costume

My DIY Unicorn Costume

Hi! Thanks for stopping by!

I’m excited to share one of my cutest and most recent DIY projects with you! For the past three years I’ve made my daughter’s Halloween costumes, but this year was special! She turned three this past summer and she is fascinated with unicorns! Since she’s getting older and learning to understand options, I gave her a choice. She got to pick between being a fruit of her choice or a unicorn. She chose the latter (& for once, I was actually relieved that she was giving me a challenge). It took a lot of pinning, searching, and shopping to come up with the vision I had for her. First was the shoes. Check out my rainbow “unicorn” shoes here.

The most time consuming part was looking for the right price in the right color and size. She wanted to be a mystical type of unicorn. I imagined she wanted to be mostly white with soft pastel accents. All I could find was a pink ballet leotard for $10 at Walmart so I bought it and took it home to brainstorm. I tried it on her to get a visual and see if I could work with the leotard being pink, but I wasn’t satisfied. (To the laundry!) I grabbed our bleach and I bleached it white, got her a long sleeved T-shirt to go underneath, some white tights, a horn and some white furry leg warmers. I made her a tail out of Bernat baby yarn, then attached one of her hair bow clips to the middle.

And there you have it, one fluffy little unicorn!

I’d love to see some of your costumes! Leave a comment below!
