Inexpensive Nursery Makeover

Hi! Thanks for stopping by!

Being a SAHM can be overwhelming 99.9% of the time. Many of us worry about reducing costs, using as many coupons/discounts as we can, and often feel a bit of guilt for making what seems like an unreasonable purchase.

If the description fits but you’re in need of a change, see how I redecorated my baby’s nursery for little to nothing:

A fresh coat of white paint (any color) automatically freshens any room that you may be tired of looking at. Two years ago, chevron was very popular and I just had to try it for myself. I loved it, but wish I would have chosen a different color. The pattern was periwinkle and the background was an eggshell white. It didn’t really go together as I originally thought, but I refused to start all over again so I dealt with it for a while.

When New Baby was born, I just got tired of it and decided it was time for a fresh start. Fresh baby, fresh start, fresh room for her to thrive developmentally and explore her imagination. Since she has a mocha colored bed and oak floors, I wanted to keep a “nature” feel with a soft touch. I got the floral leaves from Dollar Tree and stuck them in an old flower pot I had sitting in my kitchen window sill. The pink vintage fan was a college gift for my dorm (10 years ago). I spray painted it Satin Blush to match her wall decor. I used some glitter glue and a stencil to make the “family” canvas hanging. I also spray painted another small canvas after splattering paint to give it abstract texture on the adjacent wall. The sunshine hangings were part of a baby shower gift for New Baby.

The arrow was on clearance at Meijer, and I used some old canvas frames to make the hair bow/clip organizer. The mirrors are also from Dollar Tree. Mirrors are great for making small spaces seem larger.

With my die cut machine, I made her a wall decal to go above her bed and the letter “A” on the opposite wall. The most expensive items for this project were the faux fur shag rug (Meijer, $25) and the paint (approximately $40 for ceiling paint and semigloss paint).

Not bad at all! I do plan on purchasing her a small 4 cube shelf to go underneath her accent wall and a nice decorative crib sheet set to bring out the soft pink that I envisioned in her color palette.

Tell me what you think! I’d love to see some of your room makeovers!
