DIY Raglan Hoodie Striped Outfit

DIY RAGLAN HOODIE

Hey friends! Has it been way too long, or what? Today’s post is brought to you by a lovely toddler who just turned three. You see, every month of the first year of her life I made her a different color tutu for her milestone photo ops. Then, I made a multicolor tutu for her first and second birthdays. This year we dared to be different. I decided it’s time to make her an entire outfit. A real outfit that couldn’t be found at the store, and that didn’t have to be worn on just one special occasion. So I made a DIY raglan hoodie with matching leggings. Custom from head to toe.

SEWING IS SO INTIMIDATING!

If you’ve got a knack for sewing (IE: zigzag stitch on your machine), you can start making your little ones custom outfits too. Even if you don’t have a knack, it’s not as scary as it looks.

Certainly, her outfit needed to match her personality. Bold, bright, and energetic. What better way for her to express herself than allowing her to pick her own fabric? Off to JoAnn we go. The main fabric is from JoAnn, and the accented cuffs and waistband are up cycled from an old maxi skirt.

OKAY, I’VE GOT THIS FABRIC. NOW WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?

After thoroughly scanning the ever-trusted Pinterest, I came across the most simple sewing pattern I’ve ever done thus far. Bonus! It’s a FREE pattern WITH instructions! Another bonus: the pattern includes sizes newborn to 6T! If you follow the detailed instructions, you’ll wield this beautifully constructed raglan hoodie!

In addition to the hoodie, I made a pair of leggings with the extra fabric to make an entire outfit. I then added accented cuffs just like the hoodie to make it tie together well. By the way, leggings are by far the EASIEST to make right at home! You’ll never throw away an old pair after you learn how to make them yourself. (Stay tuned for my DIY Mom & Me Jammies post this upcoming month)
